Panthers Homer Their Way Over Pirate Softball

On Saturday visiting Continental High Softball outhit Paulding 8-5 but the Panthers had 3 extra base hits (2 homers) while the Pirates had 1.  The Panthers used those extra base hits to take a 7-5 win in non league action.  It was the Panthers on the board first as they plated 3 runs in the first.  The Pirates would rally for a pair of runs in the third to make it 3-2.  The Panthers would add another 3 runs in the bottom of the third to make it 6-2.  The Panthers would add a run in the bottom of the fourth Panthers 7-2.  The Pirates would make it a 4 run game in the fifth by scoring a run.  A Pirate rally in the 7 would yield 2 runs but not enough.  Panthers 7-5 final.
Gracie Homier led the Pirate hitting attach with a double and single, scoring 3 runs, driving in a run and picking up a walk.  Cassie Pier got on base 4 times with a pair of singles, a walk and was hit by a pitch, drove in 1 run and stole a base. Ava Homier had a pair of singles and scored a run.  Mallorie Barnhart hit a single, scored a run and stole a base.  Kenzie Searfoss hit a single.
Gracie Homier took the loss on the mound for the Pirates going 6 innings giving up 7 runs (6 earned) on 5 hits.  Homier walked 3 and struck out 7 Panthers.  The Pirates committed 3 errors while the Panthers committed 4.  The Pirates left 7 on base to the Panthers 1.  Pirate catcher Raegen Clemens threw out 2 Panthers trying to steal bases.
Continental falls to 1-1 and will host Pandora Gilboa on Tuesday.  Paulding improves to 1-0.
