Lots of scoring in the first five minutes of each half earmarked the season and home opener for Continental High Boys Soccer. Delta got on the board first by hitting the back of the net less than 3 minutes into the game. The Pirates would score the equalizer 41 second later when Bain Stegabuer scored off a Hunter Varner pass. Delta would retake the lead with 15:46 left in the half. Delta 2-1. That finished the Panthers scoring in the first half but not the Pirates as Hunter Varner put in his first goal of his Pirate career to tie it at 2 with 4:08 left in the half. Braxton Stegbauer got the assist. Pirates/Panthers 2 all at half.
It was all Panthers as they put in 2 goals in the first 5 minutes of the second half to take a 4-2 lead. Pirate Carson Etter would cut the Panther lead by 1 as he converted a pass form Braxton Stegbauer to make it 4-3 Panthers. The Panthers would add an another goal with 17:47 to push their lead back up to 2 goals. Delta 5-3. Neither team scored in the remaining time. Panthers 5-3 final.
Bain Stegbauer, Hunter Varner, and Carson Etter would all score 1 goal for the Pirates. Braxton Stegbauer had 2 assists while Hunter Varner had 1 assist.
Continental falls to 0-1 and will travel to Lima Bath on Tuesday for non league action. Delta improves to 2-0. Continental took the Junior Varsity game 2-0.
