
On Saturday afternoon the Continental Lady Pirates played host to the Patrick Henry Patriots in non League action. Senior was also held as Jaylen Armey and Ashley Mansfield were honored for their commitment to Pirate Basketball.
The Patriots came out firing and put in a three for the first score of the game. An Ashley Mansfield free throw put the Pirates on the board. The two teams traded baskets for the next 8 points with Amber Logan hitting both for the Pirates. An eight point Patriot run was stopped when the Pirates hit a pair of baskets (Addyson Armey and Logan). A basket by the Patriots and one by Logan made it Patriots 18, Pirates 11 after 1.
The second quarter had the Patriots outscore the Pirates 13-8 as Logan scored 3, Armey hit a 3 pointer and Jaylen Armey made a basket. Patriots 31, Pirates 19.
The Patriots scored 8 of the first 9 points of the quarter to take a 39-20 lead. A basket by Mansfield was matched by the Patriots. Alex Hoeffel hit a 3 pointer to make it Patriots 41 Pirates 25. A pair of Patriots 3 pointers was sandwiched around a Logan 3 point play. Patriots 47, Pirates 28 after three.
The fourth quarter had the Pirates outscoring the Patriots by 3 for a Patrick Henry 55, Continental 39 final. The Patriots ended up hitting 8 3-pointers in the game.
Amber Logan led the Pirates with 17 points while Addyson Armey scored 9. Senior Jaylen Armey put in 4, Senior Ashely Mansfield , Brooke Bradford and Alex Hoeffel all had 3 points.
Continental falls to 2-18 and will travel to Ayersville on Tuesday. Patrick Henry improves to 13-6.
