
Ayersville 6, Continental 1
In the first game of the Pilot Invitational, the Pilots used a pair of 3 run innings to outscore the Pirates 6-1. A 3 spot in the second and another in the fourth were more than the single run the Pirates scored in the fourth. Amber Logan pitched the complete game for the Pirates and gave up 7 hits while striking out 4. The Pirates had 5 hits and were led by Logan with a single and a double and a pair of singles by Ashley Mansfield.
Continental 12, Pettisville 7
Continental opened up their second game of the day by taking a 9-0 lead. The Pirates plated 1 in the first, 5 in the second and 3 in the third for the 9 runs. The Blackbirds then scored the next 5 runs to make it 9-5 with single runs in the third and fourth and 3 runs in the fifth. The Pirates rallied for 3 more runs to take a 12 -5 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. A pair of runs by the Blackbirds was not enough as the Pirates prevailed 12-7.
Ashley Mansfield started for the Pirates and picked up the win. Amber Logan pitched in relief. Riley Fenter had 3 singles for the Pirates while Logan had a 2 singles and a double and Jessica Stauffer had a single and a double.
The Pirates are now 2-7 while the Pilots are 9-6 and Blackbirds are 3-7. Continental next plays at Miller City in a Putnam County League game on Monday.
