
If you total up ever quarter but the third Continental would have came home from Ayersville with a Boys Varsity victory. But the amount the Pirates were outscored in the third was enough to propel the Pilots to victory. The Pilots took opened up the game by taking the first quarter 9-8. The second quarter went the same way with the Pilots winning the quarter 10-9 for a 19-17 Pilot lead at half. Both teams picked up the offense in the third quarter with the Pirates putting in 11 but the Pilots did 10 better so the score after 3 was Pilots 40-28. The Pirates would outscore the Pilots by 3 in the fourth for a 56-47 final.
The game was decided at the foul line where the Pilots were 21-32 while the Pirates were 6-9. Mitchell Coleman led the Pirates with 21 points while Bryce Recker put in 9. Alex Sharrits scored 5, Reed Warnement 4, Rhenn Armey and Wyatt Davis 3 each, and Konnot Kinpp-Williams 2. Continental made five 3 pointers with Coleman making 2 and Sharrits, Armey and Davis making 1 each. Ayersville put in three 3 pointers.
Continental falls to 3-8 and will traveled to Miller City on Friday for a Putnam County League game. Ayersville improves to 4-3.
Mitchell Coleman is now 15th on the Pirate career scoring list with 1021 points. Coleman passed Geral Grant 1008 points and Brooke Tegenkamp 1017.
