Continental High Softball opened the 2026 season on the road at Ayersville on Saturday. The Pilots were the DVII Regional runnerup in 2025 and do not appear to have lost a step. Slowly but surely the Pilots outscored the Pirates. The Pirates hit the ball well with 7 hits but could not string together the hits to put runs on the board. The Pilots put up 2 runs in the first 2 innings and then plated single runs in the third, fourth, and sixth inning to claim a 7-0 victory.
Continental pounded out 7 hits with Mallorie Barnhart and Ava Homier each hitting a pair of singles. Becca Sullivan hit a double. Gracie Homier hit a single and drew a walk. Maeci Dockery hit a single. Gracie Homier took the loss for the Pirates on the mound going a complete game. Homier gave up 7 earned runs on 11 hits and 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Continental falls to 0-1 and will host North Baltimore on Tuesday in the home opener. Ayersville moves to 1-0.
