Pilots Win Holiday Tournament

On Tuesday Ayersville showed that they are a team to reckon with in Northwest Ohio as they had a pair of 20+ point wins on the way to the 35th Ayersville Holiday Tournament Championship. The Pilots defeated the Hilltop Cadets in the finals 50-23.

In the consolation game featuring Putnam County rivals Continental and Leipsic, Leipsic opened up the game with a 2 pointer that the Pirates Blair Tegenkamp responded by scoring 2. The Vikings then scored the next 7 points to take a 9-2 before the Pirates got on the scoreboard again. After a close first quarter (14-9 Vikings), things quickly went all Leipsic’s way in the second as the they outscored the Pirates 14-1 in second quarter. Vikings 28, Pirates 10 at half. The Pirate offense showed some life in the third as they scored 9 points but the Vikings put the game away by putting in 15. Vikings 53, Pirates 19 after 3. The Pirates did finish the game strong by scoring 19 points in the fourth to the Viknings 10. Vikings 63, Pirates 38 Final.

Amber Logan was named to theĀ All Tournament team and led the Pirates in scoring with 12 points (three 3 pointers). Madison Sharp and Ashley Mansfield both had 6 points. Blair Tegenkamp scored 4 points. Alivia Homier and Jessica Stauffer both made a 3 pointer for 3 points each. Alex Quigley and Riley Fenter both scored 2.

The Pirates are now 1-8 and host Miller City on Saturday at 1:00. Leipsic improves to 8-2.
