The 2016 version of the Continental High School Softball finished with a 9-9 record but a earned sectional championship and district runnerup. The Pirates lost 4 lettermen from last year (Alex Quigley, Kayla Troyer, Emily Logan, and Amelia Weller) but return 7 lettermen. Four Seniors are back with Jade Zachrich (1b), Alivia Homier (CF), Ashley Mansfield (3b), and Kacie Quigley (CF) each having already earned 3 letters while Junior Amber Logan (P) has earned 2 letters. Sophomores Riley Fenter and Breanne Eichholt both have earned 1 letter. Two Sophomores Jessica Stauffer and Madi Sharp will be working on their first letter. Seven Freshman (Kennedy Hiltner, Macy Collier, Keri Prowant, Mackenzie Rayle, Addyson Armey, Kiya Wiggins, and Natalie Speiser) are looking to make first year impacts.
Graduating from the team last year is the majority of the infield and first 4 batters but the Pirates return a great base with the starting pitcher and complete outfield. With excellent team speed and athletic ability the Pirates hope to improve on last year’s third place Putnam County finish.
The Pirates are coached Jordan Streicher (125-120) and open the season on Saturday at Paulding. Go Pirates!
