This weekend two Continental High Graduates will be suiting up in the Blue and Gold for the final time as they participate in the OHSAA Division III Track and Field State Finals. Isaac Gibbs starts out the State action of Friday in the Boys Pole Vault and Shot Put while on Saturday Shelby Collier will compete in the Girls Pole Vault. The State Finals are being held at Westerville North High School.
Boys Pole Vault
Pirate Graduate Isaac Gibbs will jump in the Boys Pole Vault on Friday at 10am. Gibbs was the winner of the Pole Vault at the Tiffin Regional with a Height of 13’8″. Gibbs will enter the field of 18 as the 4th seed. In the field will be fellow Putnam County League rivals Columbus Grove’s Gabe Clement and Pandora Gilboa’s Andrew Suter.
Boys Shot Put
Gibbs will throw in the Boys Shot Put on Friday at 10 am. Gibbs placed 4th in the Tiffin Regional with a throw of 47’4.75″. He will be the 18th seed in the field of 18. In the field will be fellow Putnam County League Rival AJ Schafer.
Girls Pole Vault
Pirate Graduate Shelby Collier will jump in the Girls Pole Vault on Saturday at 10 am. Collier placed 2nd in the Tiffin Regional with a jump of 10′ 8″ (a new Pirate record). She will be the 4th seed in the field of 18.
On both Friday and Saturday Field events start at 10 am with track events starting at 2 pm. In track events 21 runners qualified for the State meet this year with the top 4 from each regional and the next best 5 times. In field events 18 were qualified for the State meet with the top 4 from each Regional and the next best 4 distances. The last State Track meet was held in 2019 at the Ohio State University where each event had 18 qualifiers.
