
Pirates 20 – Rockets 10
On Tuesday the Continental Pandora-Gilboa featured 6 innings where 3 or more runs were scored with the Pirates getting 4 of them enroute to their first win. The visiting Rockets put a 3 on the board to start the game while the Pirate took the lead for good when they plated 5 in their half of the first. A scoreless second had the Pirates open up a 6 run lead in the bottom of the third when they scored 4. Pirates 9-3 after 3. The Rockets would rally in the fourth to cut the Pirate lead to one by scoring 5 runs. The Pirates would put 4 on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Pirates 13-8 after 4. The Rockets scored 1 in the 5th while the Pirates plated 2 to make it 15-9 Pirates. The Rocket would score 1 in the top of the sixth but the Pirates would finish off the game with 5. Pirates 20, Rockets 10 in 6.
Mitchell Coleman started and got the win for the Pirates. Coleman pitched 4 innings giving up 8 runs (5 earned), 6 hits and had 4 strikeouts. Blake Elkins pitched the final 2 innings.
Continental improves to 1-6 (1-1 PCL) and will host McComb on Thursday. Pandora Gilboa falls to 6-3 (0-3 PCL).
Pirates 5 – Panthers 10
Continental jumped out to an early lead on Thursday when the hosted McComb in nonleague baseball action. The Pirates plated the only run in the first two innings when they scored 1 in the first. The third inning saw the Panthers bats awake and they scored 5 to take a 5-1 lead. The Pirates would score 2 in their half of the third to make it 5-3 after 3. The Panthers would outscore the Pirates 2-1 in the fourth to take a 7-4 lead. A single run by the Panthers in the fifth would be the only run scored in the next two innings, Panthers 8-4 after 6. The Panthers would score 2 more in the top of the seventh to make it 10-4. A Pirate seventh inning rally yielded 1 run as the Panthers took the 10-5 win.
Ethan Sullivan led the Pirates with 3 hits (1 double) and 2 rbis. Mitchell Coleman had 2 hits and an RBI while Blake Elkins had 3 hits (1 double).
Continental falls to 1-7 and will travel to Hicksville for a nonleague game on Friday. McComb improves to 3-6.
