
On Monday Continental High Baseball put on crooked numbers in the first 3 innings and then held off a visiting Big Green rally to place themselves in a tie for first in the Putnam County League. After holding visiting Ottoville scoreless in the top of the first the Pirates put 3 on the board for an early 3-0 lead. The Pirates continued to shutout the Big Green in innings 2 and 3 but added 5 runs in each inning. Pirates 13-0. The fourth inning the Pirates just could not get the final out and the Big Green put up 7 unearned runs to make it 13-7 Pirates. A Pirate run in the sixth finished off the scoring. Pirates 14-7 final.
Rhettik Bowers led the Pirates hitting attack getting 2 hits, scoring and driving in 3 runs, stealing 3 bases and earned a walk. Jayden Pitney hit a triple, scored 4 runs, walked 3 times, and stole 3 bases. Nolan Cordes had 2 hits, 2 walks, scored twice, and stole 3 bases. Quinn Tegenkamp had 2 hits, drove in a pair of runs and scored 1. Haden Streicher hit a double, walked, scored twice and stole 3 bases. Jackson Bidlack had a pair of hits, walked, and scored a run. Keenan Bowers had a hit and drove in a run. Reid Tegenkamp scored a run and stole 2 bases.
Rhettik Bowers started for the Pirates and picked up the win. Rhettik went 3.2 innings giving up 6 unearned runs on 5 hits, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts. Jayden Pitney pitched in relief going 3.1 innings giving up 1 unearned run on a walk and 4 strikeouts. Continental committed 3 errors while Ottoville committed 5. Continental improves to 1-4 (1-0 PCL) and will travel to Waynesfield-Goshen on Thursday. Ottoville falls to 0-4 (0-2 PCL).
