
On Tuesday Continental High Baseball rallied in the late innings to move on in the Tournament trail. Holgate opened up the scoring by plating a run in the first at bat only to see the host Pirates put 2 on the board in the bottom half of the inning for a Pirate 2-1 advantage. Holgate pitching would hold the Pirates scoreless the next 4 innings while scoring 3 in the second and a single run in the third to open up a 3 run Tiger lead heading into the fifth. A 2 run fifth for the Pirates made it 5-4 Tigers with 2 innings left. The Tigers opened up a 5 run lead in the top of the sixth as they added 4 more runs to their total. Tigers 9, Pirates 4 after six and a half innings. The bottom half of the sixth had the Pirates put up 7 to take their second lead of the game. Pirates 11, Tigers 9 heading into the last at bats. No runs in the seventh made it a Pirate victory 11-9.
Payton Weller got the win for the Pirates. The Pirates had 13 hits in the game to the Tigers 6. Dylan Coleman had 3 hits for the Pirates while Jarrett Keck, Chris Potts, and Mitchell Coleman all had 2 hits. Blake Elkins had 3 RBIs while Coleman and Keck both had 2 RBIs.
Continental is now 4-13 and will advance to the OHSAA Division IV Ottawa-Glandorf Sectional Final. The Pirates will play at Kalida on Thursday. Holgate falls to 1-15.
