
On Friday Continental High Baseball hosted Ayersville in non league action. The visiting Pilots got off to a great start when they plated 2 runs in the first and second inning to take a 4-0 lead. The Pirates would erase that lead in the bottom half of the second when they scored 4 to make it 4 all after 2 innings. The Pilots would score the only run in the third to make it 5-4 Pilots. The Pilots would expand their lead by another run in the fourth as they outscored the Pirates 2-1 to make it 7-5 Pilots. The Pirates would hold the Pilots scoreless in the fifth and took the lead in the game when they pushed across 4 runs. Pirates 9, Pilots 7 after 5. The games scoring ended in the sixth with Pilots adding 1 run to their total while the Pirates added 2. Pirates 11, Pilots 8 final.
Gannon Prowant pitched 3 innings for the win. Blake Elkins and Jarret Keck also pitched. The Pirates had 12 hits as Elkins had 3 singles and 3 RBIs. Brady Dockery had a double and 2 singles. Cole Bowers hit a double. Keck and Nick States had 2 singles each.
Continental improves to 5-9 (matching last year’s win total) and will host Columbus Grove in Putnam County League action on Tuesday. Ayersville falls to 3-12.
