The 2017 edition of Continental High School Boys Soccer team had one of the best starts ever for Pirate Soccer as they were unbeaten after 12 games (11-0-1) Included in that start was a 10 game winning streak. The Pirates finished the season at 11-4-2 and were Putnam County League Co-Champs (tied with Kalida). The Pirates were awarded the #1 seed in the Kalida Division IV District and advanced to the Sectional Finals where they were defeated by Lima Central Catholic 1-0.
Lima Central Catholic was defeated in the District Semifinals by Kalida 3-0. Bluffton took the Kalida District in a thrilling shootout that went to the 6th (Bluffton 2-1). Kalida was the only Putnam County team to advance beyond the Sectional Finals. Bluffton was defeated in the Regional Semifinal by Ottawa Hills. Ottawa Hills advanced to the Division III State Finals where they were defeated by Cincinnati Summit Country Day 1-0 in a game played at MAPFRE Stadium at Columbus.
