DV Continental High traveled to DIII Defiance on Saturday for Girls soccer action on the Dogturf. An even first half saw both teams scoring a single goal with Pirate Maeci Dockery hitting the back of the net first with 23:17 left in the half. The Bulldogs matched that goal with 15:18 left in the half. A hard fought second half had the Pirates putting in the only goal when Adrianna Jones scored off a Makenzie Shock pass to put the Pirates up 2-1 with 24:34 left. Pirates 2-1 winner.
Maeci Dockery and Adrianna Jones both scored single goals for the Pirates. Makenzie Niese picked up a save. Mackenzie Niese got the win for the Pirates in goal with 4 saves. Continental had a 11-5 advantage on shots with the Pirates holding a 10-5 shots on goal edge. Defiance had 6 corner kicks to the Pirates 2. A total of 16 fouls were committed with 9 by the Pirates.
Continental improves to 5-1 and will host Delta on Monday. Defiance falls to 2-3-1.
