Lots were on the line Tuesday night at Kalida and the Wildcats and Continental tangled in a Girls Soccer game that had major impacts on the Putnam County League standings. Kalida entered with a path to tie for the PCL crown needing a win. A win or tie by Continental would make Miller City sole PCL Champs. So yes, there were some MCcat fans in the stand. Well the night ended with Miller City as PCL Champs with neither Kalida or Continental ending up winners as neither team scored. The Wildcats controlled the ball but the Pirates got outstanding goalie play by Mackenzie Niese to hold off any scores. Continental, Kalida tie 0-0.
Pirate Goalie Mackenzie Niese had 10 saves. Kalida had a 18 (10 on goal) to 3 (2 on goal) advantage in shots. Kalida had 5 to the Pirates 1 advantage in corner kicks. Kalida committed 5 fouls to the Pirates 3. Continental was called offsides 4 times to the Wildcats 1.
Continental is 7-8-2 (2-2-1 PCL) and this game finishes the regular season. The Pirates next host Liberty Center (6-7-1) in OHSAA DIII Evergreen District Sectional Championship. Kalida is now 7-8-2 (2-0-2 PCL).
