Friday night visiting Continental broke a 4-all tie in the 7th inning with a pair of runs to defeat Tinora. The Pirates picked up their third win a row but it did not come easy. The Rams plated 2 runs in the bottom of the first to take an early lead. The Pirates tied the game a 2 in their next at bat. The Pirates claimed a 4-2 lead in the top of the third. The Rams made it a 1 run game scoring in the bottom of the fourth. Pirates 4-3. A Ram run in the bottom of the fifth made it a tied game at 4. The Pirates would plate 2 in the top of the seventh to take a 6-4 lead and then snuff out a Ram rally in their last at bat. Pirates 6-4 final.
The Rams outhit the Pirates 9-5 but the Pirates had a 3-5 advantage in errors. Kimberly Grant led the Pirates hitting with a single and a double. Both Grant and Mallorie Barnhart scored 2 runs. Gracie Homier picked up the complete game victory. Homier went 7 innings and gave up 4 runs (3 earned) on 8 hits and 14 strikeouts. Continental improves to 3-1 and will travel to Lima Central Catholic on Monday. Tinora falls to 0-5.
