
It was great to see the highlights on TV of the Continental Upper Scioto Valley softball game on Thursday night at Continental as the Pirates earned an 11-1 win. Highlight of the game was Pirate Pitcher Gracie Homier picking up her 600th strikeout. The Pirates hit 2 homers with Kenzie Searfoss and Gracie Homier both getting credit for touching all the bases. The Pirates opened up the scoring by plating 4 runs in the bottom of the first. The Rams put a run on the board in the top of the second to make it 4-1 Pirates. The Pirates would put 3 runs across the plate in the second to take a 7-1 lead. 2 runs by the Pirates in the bottom of the third made it 9-1 Pirates. The Pirates plated single runs in the fifth and sixth to take the 11-1 win.
Kenzie Searfoss led the Pirates offense with a home run and single, drove in 6 runs, scoring 2 runs, and walked. Gracie Homier hit a home run, scored twice, drove in a run, and walked twice. Kimberly Grant hit 2 singles, scored a run, walked, and stole a base. Ryley Winkle had 2 hits and scored 2 runs. Ava Homier hit a single, scored twice, drove in a run, walked, hit by a pitch and stole a base. Maeci Dockery walked twice and scored a run. Mallorie Barnhart hit a single and was hit by a picth. Chloe Larry scored a run and earned a walk.
Gracie Homier picked up the win for the Pirates in the circle going 6 innings giving up 1 run, 6 hits, 12 strikeouts and 2 walks. The Rams committed 2 errors. Continental improves to 11-2 and will travel to Delphos Jefferson on Friday. Upper Scioto Valley falls to 4-10.
Coach Aguirre: The Pirate Player of the Game is pitcher Gracie Homier with a home run and 12 strikeouts on the mound. With 12 strikeouts tonight she surpasses the 600 career strikeout mark with 605 and counting.
