Tuesday night had the Continental High Softball seeking a pair of 2s. There second Putnam County League victory and their second win in a row. Host Columbus Grove put a run on the scoreboard in the second inning to take the early lead. In the next half inning the Pirates would take the lead by scoring 2 runs. Pirates 2-1. The Pirates would add a pair of insurance runs in the 6th while Pirate Pitcher Gracie Homier and near perfect Pirate defenses kept the Bulldogs off the scoreboard. Pirates 4-1 victory.
The Pirates only managed 3 hits but made them count. Gracie had a double and single, scored a pair of runs and drove in a run to lead the Pirates. Mallorie Barnhart had the other hit, a double she also scored and drove in a run. Becca Stark scored the other Pirate run. Macie Clemens earned a walk and stole a base.
Gracie Homier picked up the win for the Pirates going the 7 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits, 10 strikeouts and no walks. The Pirates committed 1 error while the Bulldogs had 3.
Continental improves to 3-4 (2-0 PCL) and will host Upper Scioto Valley on Thursday. Columbus Grove falls to 4-4 (1-2 PCL).
