
On Tuesday visiting Continental High and host Kalida combined to score runs in 5 at bats with the Pirates plating 4 runs in 4 of those innings to take the win in the Putnam County League battle. It did not start the Pirate way. The Pirates scored a run in the top of the first only to see the Wildcats take a 2 run lead after 1. Wildcats 3-1 after 1. The Pirates 2 runs were the only ones second in the second to put them ahead 3-1. The rest of the game was dominated with 4 run at bats. The Pirates would plate 4 runs in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings to take a 15-3 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth. The Wildcats scored 4 in their bottom half of the fifth to make it 15-7 Pirates. The Pirates finished the scoring for the day by plating 4 in the top of the sixth. Pirates 19-7 final.
Raegen Clemens led the Pirate offensive attack by hitting a double and 3 singles, scored 4 runs, drove in 2 runs, and stole a base. Aislynn Noffsinger hit 3 singles, scored a run, drove in 3 runs, and stole a base. Reese Knowles hit 3 singles, scored 2 runs and stole a base. Kimberly Grant hit a double and a single, scored 3 runs, and drove in 2 runs. Tori Searfoss hit a pair of singles, scored 3 runs, and drove in pair of runs. Gracie Homier hit a double and a single, scored 3 runs and stole a base. Lauren Williams hit 2 singles, scored 2 runs, and drove in 2 runs. Madison Rayle hit a single, scored a run and drove in a run. Dakota Gibbs hit a double and drove in 2 runs. Bryn Tegenkamp hit a single, drove in a run, and stole a base. Alli Scott hit a double. The Pirates in total had 22 hits, 5 doubles, stole 5 bases.
Gracie Homier picked up the win on the mound by going 6 innings, giving up 7 runs (4 earned), 10 hits, striking out 8 and walking 5.
Continental improves to 7-8 (4-1 PCL) and will travel to Ostego on Thursday. Kalida falls to 1-12 (0-4 PCL).
