Pirates 38, Fairview Apaches 46

A close battle was expected Friday night when Continental High Boys Varsity Basketball traveled to Fairview for a non league game.  In the end the Apaches sealed the deal by making 4-4 from the line in a game that featured both teams shooting great from the line.  The Apaches opened the game with a pair of quick baskets to take an early 4-0 lead.  The Pirates would make it a 1 point game when Tyson Clemens made a free throw and Monty Rayle made a basket.  An Apache basket was followed by a Rayle basket and Quinn Tegenkamkp hitting a pair of free throws and the Pirates claimed a 1 point lead 7-6.  A 3 and a 2 from the Apaches made it a 4 point game 11-7 Apaches.  A pair of
Rayle free throws would cut the Apache lead to 2.  The Apaches would hit a 3 to finish off the first quarter scoring 14-9 Apaches.
The Apaches would open up the second by scoring the first 4 points to take a 18-9 lead.  Rayle would stop the Apache run and cut the lead to 6, 18-13 Apaches.  A pair of Apache baskets pushed their lead to 10, 22-12.  A 3 by Jackson Bidlack made it a 7 point game.  The Apaches would hit a 3 to finish off their scoring at 25 while the Pirates would get a Rayle basket to make it 25-17 at half.
The Pirates would open up the second half with a 3 from Tegenkamp and Rayle and it was now a 2 point game Apaches 25-23.  A 3 by the Apaches and a Rayle basket would make it Apaches 28-25.  An Apache basket and a Tegenkamp 3 would make it a 2 point game 30-28 Apaches.  The Apaches would make a basket to push their lead back to 4, 32-28.  Collin Hammond would go 4-4 from the line to tie the game at 32.  The Apaches would hit a 3, 35-32 Apaches after 3.  The Pirates outscored the Apaches 15-10 in the third.
An Apache basket and it was a 5 point game 37-32 Apaches.  A 3 point play by Rayle cut the lead to 2, Apaches 37-35.  A 3 by the Apaches and a free throw by Rayle, Apaches 40-36.  The Apaches would finish the game with a basket and going 4-4 from the line while Rayle would go 2-2 from the line for the Pirates.  Apaches 46-38 final.
Monty Rayle had a big game for the Pirates hitting 22 points, a pair of 3s, going 6-7 from the line and making 5 steals.  Quinn Tegenkmap scored 8 points with a pair of 3s and 2-2 from the line.  Colling Hammond scored 3.  Jackson Bidlack hit a 3 for 3 points and Tyson Clemens scored 1.  The Pirates made five 3s while the Apaches made 6.  The Pirates were 13-15 from the line while the Apaches were 6-8.
Continental falls to 0-5 and will travel to Antwerp on Saturday.  Fairview improves to 2-2.
