Pirates 5 – Wildcats 6

On Tuesday Continental High Baseball’s comeback fell just short in the Putnam County League game against visiting Miller City.  The Wildcats opened the game by plating 2 runs in the first while the Pirates put up one run in the bottom half of the inning.  The Wildcats would expand their led to 4, 5-1, by scoring a single run in the second third and fourth inning.  The Pirates would make it a 1 run game by scoring a run in the fifth and 2 in the sixth.  Wildcats 5 Pirates 4 heading into the last at bats.  The Wildcats would score the decisive run in the seventh.  The Pirates would score one the bottom half of the seventh but end up losing 6-5.

Blake Elkins was the pitcher of record for the Pirates as he went 4 innings and got 6 strikeouts.  Nick States was the Pirates leading batter with a single and double while Elkins had a pair of singles.

Continental falls to 1-2 (0-1 PCL) and will host Lincolnview on Friday.  Miller City improves to 2-2 (1-0 PCL).

The softball game against Miller City was cancelled due to field conditions.  This home game for the Pirates will now be played on April 22.
