Thursday night had Continental Girls Soccer host Putnam County League rival Columbus Grove in a battle of PCL leaders. Even though it is late in the season there were currently 3 PCL teams without a defeat with the Bulldogs having a tie with Miller City on their record. Continental and Kalida making up the other two. The tie with the Wildcats was the only blemish on the Bulldogs schedule putting them as the 6 ranked team in Division V in the latest MAXPreps rating. Midway through the first half the Bulldogs took the lead. That lead held till right after half when the Bulldogs were called for a handball in the penalty box with 34:13 left in the game. Mackenzie Shock buried the penalty kick to make it a 1-1 tie. That ended up as the final as both teams defense stood strong.
Makenzie Shock scored the Pirates goal. Mackenzie Niese had 11 saves as the Pirates Goalie. Columbus Grove had a 25-11 shot advantage and a 12-9 lead on shots on goal. The Bulldogs had an 11-1 advantage on corner kicks.
Continental is now 8-4-1 (2-0-1 PCL) and will host Lima Central Catholic on Monday. Columbus Grove is now 10-0-2 (1-0-2 PCL).
