On Saturday, the Pirate encounter at Lima Temple Christian the first quarter was a story of two runs. The Pirates opened up the scoring with a basket by Wade Stauffer and proceeded to score the next 6 before the Pioneers found the bottom of the net with a pair of three pointers. Final score after one was Pirates 8, Pioneers 6 with Stauffer having 6 points in the first. The Pirates and Pioneers exchanged a pair of threes to make it 14-12 midway through 2. (Temple Christian’s first 4 baskets were from downtown.) The Pirates scored 5 of the final 8 points in the second quarter for a 19-15 Pirate lead. The Pirates scored 11 of the first 12 points in the third quarter to take a 30-16 lead and then traded points with the Pioneers the rest of the quarter for a Pirate 34-21 lead after three. The fourth quarter saw the Pioneers come out strong and get within 6 of the Pirates but it wasn’t enough as the Pirates pulled out the win 49-38.
Leading the way for the Pirates was Wade Stauffer with 22 points while Trevor Williamson added 17 (three 3 pointers). Tyler Brecht had 5 (one 3 pointer), Jacob Williams and Caleb Olds both had 2 point. Dean Krendl had 1 point.
