
Sports — It has been 6 years since Continental has beaten Miller City in baseball and 8 years in a Putnam County League game. On Monday the Pirates went East to take on the Wildcats in a Putnam County League baseball game. The Pirates opened up the game by scoring the first two runs of the game in the second only to have the Wildcats match those in the bottom half. A single Wildcat run in the third made it 3-2 Wildcats heading into the fourth. The Pirates would plate 3 runs in the top of the fourth to take a lead they would hold. A single run by the Wildcats in their half of the fourth made it 5-4 Pirates. The Pirates put 5 more runs on the board in the next two innings to open up a 6 run advantage. A single run by the Wildcats in the 6th made it 10-5 heading into the final innings. The Pirates outscored the Wildcats 2-1 in the last inning for the 12-5 Pirates final.
Nick States earned the complete game win for the Pirates as he held the Wildcats to 5 hits. Mitchell Coleman had 3 hits and an RBI for the for the Pirates. Connor Okuley had a double and 2 RBIs, Chris Potts a double, and States with a single and 3 RBIs. The Pirates had 9 hits.
Continental is 2-8 (1-1 PCL) and will travel to Columbus Grove on Wednesday for another Putnam County League game. Miller City is 4-5 (2-3 PCL).
