On Monday the Continental High Softball team scored early to take control of the game. Continental plated 4 runs in the first and a single run in the second to take an early 5-0 at Holgate. A scoreless third was followed by the Pirates extending their lead by 1, 6-0 after 4 innings. The Pirates scored 5 in the top of the fifth to take an 11 run lead. The Tigers would push the game to 6 innings when they scored 2 in the bottom of the 5th. Pirates 11-2 after 5. A pair of Pirate runs was the only score in the 6th. Pirates 13-2 final.
Knowles led the Pirates hitting effort with 3 hits (1 double), Maddie Burke had a triple and double. Scott and Williams both had a double and a single. Knowles, Etter, Burke and Scott all scored 2 runs. Scott had 4 RBIs, Williams and Potts both had 2 RBIs.
Troyer got the complete game win giving up 5 hits, 2 runs, and striking out 8 Tigers.
Continental improves to 3-8. The game at Ottoville scheduled for Tuesday is now on Thursday. Holgate falls to 1-7.
