On Monday night Continental Girls Soccer made the trip to Lima Spartan Stadium to take on Lima Central Catholic. In a rematch of a Division III Ottoville District Semifinal that went the Tbirds way, a close encounter was expected. The two teams played an even half 1-1 with Pirate Alex Hoeffel hitting the back of the net. The second half had only the Tbirds scoring and claiming the 3-1 win. Continental and LCC are in different Districts this year so a rematch will have to happen in a Regional Semifinal.
That was not the only game played of Pirate significance last night. With Kalida defeating Ottoville Girls 2-0 the Pirates now have a 1 game lead over the Putnam County League field in the race for the championship. On Thursday Continental will travel to Ottoville for a PCL game. If either Continental or Ottoville wins they will claim at least a share of the PCL crown. A tie still leaves the Pirates in the PCL championship lead with a game against Kalida still on the agenda.
Continental falls to 9-3-1 while LCC improves to 8-4. Thursday’s night game against Ottoville will be broadcast on Zsportslive family of stations.
