
The Pirates moved on to the OHSAA Division III Kalida District Semifinal on Saturday by defeating Lincolnview 7-0. It was all Pirates as they started each half scoring a goal in the first minute. Rhenn Armey got the Pirates on the board as he put in a shot to the left of the goal 43 seconds into the game. The Pirates would would take a 2-0 lead 8 minutes into the game when Alex Sharrits would take a pass from Armey, dribbled in and beat the goalie 1 on 1. With 16:14 left in the first half when Armey put in a rebound off a shot on the Lancer goalie. Pirates 3-0. That would take care of the first half Pirates 3-0.
Just 46 seconds into the second half Peyton Wilson would put the Pirates up 4-0 as he found the back of the net after 3 Pirate shots were blocked. With 22 minutes to go Andrew Hoeffel made it 5-0 Pirates as he put in a shot from the 15 off a pass from Collin Davis. The Pirates made it 6-0 with 12:52 left when Sharrits beat the goalie with a shot from the left that hit the right corner of the goal. Armey would pick up the hat trick, his 9th of the year, when he took a pass from Hoeffel and beat the goalie. Pirates 7-0 final.
Rhenn Armey led the Pirates with 3 goals and 1 assist. Alex Sharrits had 2 goals, Andrew Hoeffel and Peyton Wilson each had 1 goal. Collin Davis and Hoeffel both had an assist.
Konnor Knipp Williams picked up the shutout for the Pirates in goal by making 2 saves. Knipp Williams ties the season record for shutouts in a season with 9 (Ben Miller 2006 also had 9). Continental had a 16-2 advantage in shots and a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
#1 seed Continental improves to 15-1-1 (tying the record for wins in a season with the 2020 team) and will move onto the Kalida District where they will meet #4 seed Kalida on Wednesday in the late District Semifinal game. The Pirates won the previous game 1-0. This makes the Pirates 4th consecutive trip to the Districts. Lincolnview falls to 7-10.
