Friday night saw Continental High host Miller City in Boys Putnam County League Soccer in the league opener for both teams. It was the first time that DV Continental was playing another DV school this year. The Wildcats came in at 3-1 while the Pirates were still looking for win 1 with a 0-2-1 record. An even first half had the Pirates score both goal. The first goal was off a Wildcat throw in near the endline that hit a Pirate and ended up in the Wildcat goal. Wildcats 1-0 20:40 into the game. The Pirates tied the scored at 1 when Bain Stegbauer passed to himself past 2 Wildcat defenders, he then kicked ball ball past the diving Wildcat goalie with 6:39 left in the first half. The half ended 1 all tie. The Pirates put in the only goal of the second half with 27:00 left to play when Collin Davis passed to Rhettik Bowers while Davis split the defenders and kicked the ball into the goal. Pirate 2-1 final.
Jayden Pitney was the goalie for the Pirates. The Pirates had 3 shots on goal to the Wildcats 1. In a rough and tumble game the Pirates had 2 yellow cards while the Wildcats had 1.
Continental improves to 1-2-1 (1-0 PCL) and will host Lima Temple Christian on Tuesday. Miller City falls to 3-2 (0-1 PCL).
