
Tuesday’s match at Continental High looked like a mismatch on paper as the host Pirates came in ranked 5 in DV in the MAXPrep poll while Cory-Rawson came in ranked 88. It was all Pirates as they started game off with a pair of goals in the first 5 minutes of the game when Rehettik Bowers and Hunter Varner scored goals while Jackson Bidlack picked up an assist. The Hornets would cut the Pirate lead to 1 by scoring with 32:06 left in the half. The Pirates would put in the next 7 goals in the half as Bowers put in goal #2 with 22:57 left off a Preston Wilson pass, Pirates 3-1. Parker Okuley would score with 22:10 left with Bower getting the assist. Pirates 4-1. Varner would score his second goal off a Monty Rayle assist with 18:29 left. Varner would get the hat trick 18:18 left in the half Pirates 6-1. Haden Streicher would put the Pirates up 7-1 with 9:45 with Varner getting the assist. Bidlack would make it 8-1 with 6:09 left with Streicher getting the assist. Bidlack would score his second goal with 3:55 left to make it 9-1 with Cameron Burgei getting the assist. Pirates 9-1 at half. The Hornets would score the only goal of the second half. Pirates 9-2 final.
Hunter Varner led the Pirates with 3 goals and an assist. Jackson Bidlack and Rhettik Bowers both scored 2 goals and had an assit. Haden Streicher would score a goal and pick up an assist. Parker Okuley scored a goal. Preston Wilson and Cameron Burgei both had an assist.
Reid Tegenkamp picked up the win in goal for the Pirates with 2 saves. Carter Troyer also goalied and made a save. Continental had a 21-5 advantage on shots on goal and 5-1 on corner kicks.
Continental improves to 8-0-0 and will host Ottoville on Friday in a key Putnam County League game. Cory Rawson falls to 1-5.
