A great start by the Continental High Boys Basketball team was followed up by a strong second half propelled that Pirates to their first win of the season. Patrick Henry came into the Cove seeking their 3rd win on the season. The Pirates opened up the game by taking the first quarter by 10, 18-8 Pirates. The Patriots took the second quarter by 6, 14-8. Pirates 26, Patriots 22 at half. The third quarter was all about Pirate Defense as the Patriots were held to 2 points while the Pirates put in 10. Pirates 36, Patriots 24 after 3. The Pirates made it a second half sweep as they took the fourth quarter by 2. Pirates 50, Patriots 36 final.
Mitchell Coleman led the Pirates with 20 points while Gavin Huff put in 12. Bryce Recker, Reed Warnement, and Andrew Hoeffel put in 6 points each. Coleman made 3 three pointers while Huff and Hoeffel both made 2.
Continental improves to 1-9 and will travel to Leipsic (3-4) on Saturday for their Putnam County League opener. Patrick Henry falls to 2-6. Patrick Henry won the Junior Varsity game in overtime with a shot at the buzzer.
