Thursday had visiting Lima Central Catholic and host Continental Softball waiting till the 7th inning to rally for the win with both teams scoring multiple runs. It was host Continental who prevailed. It was the Thunderbirds who opened up the scoring by plating a run in the top of the first. That lead held till the bottom of the third when the Pirates matched that run to make it 1 all. No runs were scored in the 4th, 5th and 6th inning. The Thunderbirds broke the tie in the top of the 7th by scoring 2 to take a 3-1 lead. The Pirates worked their way to tie the game at 3 all then Allie Weller went to bat with bases loaded. Weller showed a good eye and picked up the walk off walk.
Gracie Homier led the Pirates offense going 3-3 (with a walk), a double, 2 singles, 1 run scored, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base. Kimberly Grant hit a double and scored 2 runs. Raegan Clemens hit a double, drove in 2 runs and stole a base. Allie Weller hit a single and drove in a run. Mallorie Barnhart scored a run and stole a base.
Gracie Homie pitched a complete game going 7 innings giving up 3 runs (2 earned) on 3 hits 5 strikeout and 4 walks.
Continental improves to 5-4 and travel to Leipsic on Saturday for a makeup PCL game. Lima Central Catholic falls to 2-8-1.
