
On Monday night if you left the Pirate Softball game early when the Pirates were down 7-0 you just did not have faith. The host Pirates battled back to take the OHSAA Division IV Sectional Semifinal and move onto the Sectional Final at Ada on Thursday. The Kalida Wildcats opened up the scoring by putting across a single run in the top of the third. The Pirates were scoreless in the bottom of the third. In the fourth Kalida plated 3 more runs while holding the Pirates scoreless to take a 4 run lead. Three more Wildcat runs in the fifth gave Kalida a 7 run lead with 3 Pirate at bats left. The Pirates put 3 runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth for a 7-3 Wildcat lead. The Pirates held the Wildcats scoreless while plating 4 to even the score at seven. The Pirates scored the only run in the 7th to take the 8-7 thriller.
Amber Logan got the win for the Pirates. The Pirates pounded out 15 hits. Mackenzie Rayle went 4-5 to lead the Pirate hitting attack. Kerri Prowant was 3-4 with a double, Logan 2-4 with a double, Jessica Stauffer 2-3, and Riley Fenter 2-4.
Continental is now 6-8 and advances to the OHSAA Elilda Division IV Sectional Final on Thursday at 5:00 at Ada. Ada’s home field is at War Memorial Park, 401 North Park Drive, Ada.
