Pirates Split League Game With Wildcats

Miller City 3, Continental 0

Single runs in three innings allowed the Wildcats to go home the winner Monday night in this Putnam County League game. Wildcat runs in the first, third, and fifth innings were the only ones scored. Brady Dockery took the loss for the Pirates. The Wildcats had 9 hits compared to the Pirates 2. Continental falls to 2-11 (0-5 PCL) while Miller City move to 8-5 (4-1 PCL). Continental next hosts Ottoville in a nonleague game on Thursday.

Softball

Continental 17, Miller City 14

The Pirates plated runs in every inning to take this Monday night Putnam County League game. The visiting Pirates started out the scoring by two runs in the first only to have Miller City take their only lead of the night in the bottom half of the first with 3 runs. An 8 spot in the second inning gave the Pirates a 10-3 lead that they would not lose. The Wildcats would tighten the score up by 2 in the bottom of the second to make it 10-5 after 2. The Pirates would score the next 4 runs (1 in the third, 3 in the fourth) to open up a 14-5 Pirate lead. The Pirates finished the game by scoring single runs in the last 3 innings while the Wildcats plated 8 more runs. Pirates 17, Wildcats 14.

Amber Logan got the win for the Pirates. Logan has a 3 run homer and a single to lead the Pirate hitters. The Pirates pounded out 14 hits. Jessica Stauffer and Ashely Mansfield both had 3 singles.

Continental improves to 4-7 (2-1 PCL) while Miller City falls to 4-6 (0-2 PCL). The Pirates host Bryan on Tuesday.
