
Boys Soccer
Continental 4, Wauseon 0
On Tuesday night the Continental Boys Soccer team went to Wauseon for a non league encounter. It was all Pirates as the defeated the Indians 4-0. Christian Velasquez had the hat trick for the Pirates while Chris Potts added the additional goal. Trevor Williamson had a pair of assists while Potts also recorded an assist.
The Pirates are now 8-1-1 and next play at Kalida on Friday night. With a win or tie at Kalida Continental will secure the Putnam County League Crown by themselves.
Volleyball
Leipsic 3, Continental 0
On Tuesday night the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association’s 9th ranked Division IV squad, Leipsic Vikings, came to Continental for a Putnam County League matchup. The Vikings lived up to the billing as they took the Pirates in 3 games. Leipsic opened up the match with a 25-11 victory and followed it up another 25-11 score in game 2. A Viking 25-10 game three win sealed the match.
Continental is now 6-7 (0-3 PCL) and will go to Ayersville on Thursday. Leipsic is now 11-1 (3-0 PCL).
Girls Soccer
Bryan 3, Continental 0
In a matchup between two ranked North West Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association teams the Bryan Golden Bears came out on the offensive early and took an early 1-0 lead. An own goal by the Pirates off a corner kick made it 2-0 Bears. The Pirates tightened up the game 2-1 when Kaytlin Bibler put in the rebound off an Alex Hoeffel shot that hit the goal post. Bears 2, Pirates 1 at the half. The scored remained that way till the end of the second half when Bryan put in another score to make the final 3-1 Bears.
Continental had 11 shots on goal to Bryan’s 10. Pirate Goalie Ashley Mansfield had 7 saves.
Continental ranked #6 in Division III in the NWOSSCA is now 7-2 and will host Crestview on Thursday night. Bryan is ranked 10th in Division II.
