Last year Continental High School Baseball traveled to Arlington for a sectional semifinal and left playing out the season. A different year with different a result. The Pirates, on Monday, opened the game up by scoring 2 runs in the first which the Red Devils matched. Another pair was scored by the Pirates was bettered by one run by the Red Devils in the second to make it Red Devils 5, Pirates 4 after 2. After a scoreless third and fourth the Pirates plated 3 to take a 7 – 5 lead. A single run by the Red Devils in the sixth ended the nights scoring and left the Pirates 7-6 winner.
Brady Dockery got the win for the Pirates. The Pirates were out hit 12-4 by the Red Devils but showed patience at the plate as the Pirates walked 11 times. Dockery and Konnor Okuley both had a single and an RBI for the Pirates.
Continental, #12 seed, improves to 5-15. Arlington, #6 seed, falls to 9-7. The Pirates advance to the Sectional Finals where they will play at #3 seed Miller City on Thursday.
