Since the Pirates did not make it to state in any of the three fall sports I always like to follow the teams that beat out the Pirates on the tournament road. This year a pair of the Pirates teams were taken out by teams playing in the State Championship.
Volleyball
The VolleyPirates were taken out in the Sectional Semi final by the McComb Panthers in 3 sets. McComb (29-0) advanced to the State Finals held at the Nutter Center on the campus of Wright State University where they lost to Fort Loramie in four sets. In tournament play McComb was not pushed to 4 sets until the State Semifinals.
Girls Soccer
The PCL Runnersup Pirates were taken out in the District Semifinals by Ottawa Glandorf with a 6-2 score. Ottawa Glandorf (20-2-1) advanced to the State Finals held at the Columbus Crew Stadium where they played defending State Champion Hamilton Badin. In tournament play OG was tested by Kalida in the District finals where the Titans won in double overtime 2-1. In regional play the Titans won by multiple goals in each game. OG advanced to the Championship by defeating Elyria Catholic 1-0 in a game played at Clyde. The Titans ended the season as State Division III Runnersup as the fell 2-0 in the final.
Boys Soccer
The PCL Champions Pirates were taken out in the District Semifinals by Fort Jennings by a 1-0 score. The Muskies advanced to the Regional finals where they fell to Mansfield Christian 3-1.
