Approximately 15 people enjoyed a special treat at the Putnam County Historical Society’s book signing and discussion on Sunday at the museum in Kalida. Jeanne Bennett Calvert (former CHS teacher John Bennett’s sister) has launched her newest book, Putnam County Murders. She is a retired professor of Biology and native of Oakwood. Jeanne stressed in her opening statements that this is not a How-To book! She then proceded to share the most interesting of the crimes in our county. Putnam County has been added to her collection of books along with details of the murders in Paulding, Van Wert, Defiance and soon to be Williams counties. She became interested in the topic when the Eagleson murder took place in Paulding County during her high school years. Putnam County was different than the other counties in that it started the same way as the first murder in the Bible – brother against brother. Putnam County Murders is available on Amazon. Thank you to the Historical Society for putting on this informative event and to Jeanne for sharing your expertise!
