The Putnam County Schools along with the Putnam County Health Department have issued their Joint Re-Opening Agreement. The agreement documents what is required of students and staff of Putnam County, Ohio schools during the fall re-opening with regards to COVID-19.
Highlights include that daily health assessments must be taken of staff and students, and those experiencing symptoms of fever, cough, headache, nausea or vomiting and diarrhea, among others, must remain home and not attend school. Any communications for when a student/staff member has been diagnosed with a positing COVID-19 test will be handled by the Putnam County Health Department. Face coverings are required for all staff as well as students in grades 3 – 12. Face coverings are strongly encouraged for students in grades K – 2. With regards to transportation, students will be required to wear face coverings on school buses and will sit two (2) to a seat unless special circumstances lead to sitting three (3) to a seat such as three siblings from the same household or smaller students who can safely sit three (3) to a seat. Parents who are uncomfortable regarding the ability of the district to successfully maintain a safe and healthy setting on the school bus are encouraged to personally transport their children to and from school.
Other safety measures documented in the Joint Re-Opening Agreement include items for classroom safety, food service/cafeteria use, playground/recess, Start of Day/End of Day and Visitors/Volunteers.
