
A defensive struggle turned in the third quarter when host Wayne Trace outscored the Pirate Boys to take a Tuesday night non league game. The game started with the Raiders doubling up on the Pirates in the first quarter 12-6. A low scoring second quarter went the Pirates way 4-2 for a 14-10 Raider lead at half. The Pirates offense had an uptick in the third quarter as they put in 7 points but the Raiders doubled that with 14. Raiders 28, Pirates 17 after 3. The Raiders would take the last quarter by 2 for a 41-28 Raider final.
Gavin Huff led the Pirates with 11 points while Alex Sharrits and Andrew Hoeffel both put in 5 points. Mitchell Coleman scored 4, Gannon Prowant 2, and Reed Warnement 1. Huff, Hoeffel and Sharrits all hit one 3 pointer for the Pirates.
Continental falls to 4-13 and will travel to the AP’s #2 ranked Division IV team Columbus Grove. Wayne Trace improves to 12-4. Wayne Trace also won the Junior Varsity contest.
