AYERSVILLE – Randal R. Skiver, 89, of Ayersville, died 4:20 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice. He was born October 5, 1933 in Paulding County to the late Perlie and Wanetta (Carnahan) Skiver. On May 16, 1953, he married Delores Brand, who survives in Ayersville.
Other survivors include five children: Steven (Marijo) Skiver of Kokomo, IN, Allan (Kathy) Skiver of Ayersville, Jerry (Tammy) Skiver, Tony (Dawn) Skiver and Jannette (Robert) Kubica, all of Defiance; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Skiver of Continental; a son-in-law, Dean Siefker of Leipsic; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; a sister, Kay Thomas of Oakwood; and a sister-in-law, Nelverta Skiver of Continental.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Stanley Skiver; and a daughter, Beverly Siefker; three brothers: James, Roger and Daniel Skiver; a brother-in-law, Henry Thomas; and a sister-in-law, Mary Skiver.
Randal retired in 1991 from General Motors, Defiance, where he was a member of the Local UAW 211. He was also worked as a lifelong farmer, formerly owned Skiver Dirt and Compost and was a township inspector. Randal was a member of the Church of Christ, Oakwood. He was DIY before DIY was popular and loved making repairs for his neighbors and children.
Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 10, 2022 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Pastor Lonnie Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at North Mt. Zion Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 2 – 8 p.m., on Wednesday and 10 – 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
