The weekly Tuesday night Putnam County League game had Continental hosting Kalida in a pair of teams looking to stay in the PCL title hunt. Both teams entered the contest with one league loss and the winner would stay in the league lead. Kalida entered the game ranked 15 in the latest Ohio DVII coaches poll. The Wildcats started game plating 4 runs in the first while holding the Pirates scoreless. A scoreless second made the score 4-0 after 2. The Wildcats would score 7 in the third to take control of the game. The Wildcats would add 2 more runs in the fourth and 4 in the fifth to take the 17-0 victory.
The Pirates got singles from Jayden Pitney and Quinn Tegenkamp. Jackson Bidlack earned a walk. Pitney stole a base. Rhettik Bowers started and went 1.2 innings giving up 7 runs (5 earned) on 4 hits, 1 strikeout and 1 walk. Jayden Pitney pitched 1 inning in relief giving up 6 unearned runs on 5 hits 1 walk and 1 strikeout. Nolan Cordes went 1 inning giving up 4 runs on 5 hits, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Ried Tegenkamp pitched .2 scoreless inning. The Pirates made 4 errors. Continental falls to 2-9 (1-2 PCL) and will host Upper Scioto Vally on Thursday. Kalida improves to 7-3 (3-1 PCL).
