David is with his beloved daughter Carrie Roeth in heaven by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, to the glory of God.
David Chivington, an ambassador of Christ, was in ministry for over 47 years. He served, as pastor, multiple churches including: Wren UMC, Wood Chapel UMC, Bethel UMC, Willshire UMC, Union UMC, Fletcher UMC, Middletown UMC, Assistant District Superintendent of Northwest Plains District, Sidney First Global Methodist, Faith Ignited, and Coldwater Good Shepherd Church.
David faithfully preached the gospel of the grace of Jesus Christ and enjoyed helping people discover the beauty of God’s Word and glory. He was quick with encouragement, a humorous dad joke or story, a hug, a kind word, a simple smile, or the revelation of the truth needed from a gifted communicator. With a pastoral passion, a counselor’s heart, and a shepherd’s care, he led his family and churches into a healthy, intimate, passionate, growing relationship with Jesus Christ. David taught us that we are the blessed recipients of God’s amazing grace and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Throughout his life, David enjoyed coaching basketball, riding his horse, and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
David was a graduate from Continental High School, Taylor University, United Theological Seminary, and received his doctorate of Ministry from Southern Methodist University.
