Host Pandora Gilboa had Senior night on Thursday when they hosted Continental in a key Putnam County League game. The game was the Rockets Senior night as Pep Band Members, Swimming team, Cheerleaders and 7 Varsity Boys Basketball Players (3 being 4 year letterwinners ) were recognized. The Rockets were on a mission to claim the Putnam County League Championship and a share of the Blanchard Valley Conference crown. The Pirates were looking for their first PCL win of the season. It was all Pirates at the starts as they went inside to Brady Thomsen twice while holding the Rockets scoreless for almost the first 5 minutes of the game. It was then all Rockets as they would hit a 3 to start scoring and added 10 additional points in the final 3 minutes of the quarter. Rockets 13-4 after 1. The second quarter was all Rockets as they put in 20 points while the Pirates only got a Carson Etter basket. Rockets 33-6 at half.
The Pirates had some success in third quarter pounding the ball inside to Thomsen as he made 3 baskets and Carson Etter added 1 but the Rockets had their second straight 20 point quarter. Rockets 53-14 after 3. A close low scoring fourth quarter went to the Rockets by 1 point with the Pirates getting a basket and free throw from Thomsen and a basket from Quinn Tegenkamp. Rockets 59-19 final.
Brady Thomsen led the Pirates with 13 points. Carson Etter added 4 point and Quinn Tegenkamp 2 points.
Continental falls to 2-20 (0-7 PCL) and will travel to McComb on Friday. Pandora Gilboa finishes the PCL portion of their schedule at 7-0 and 20-2.
