
On Thursday, the Pirates entered with a chance to win a share of the Putnam County League against Pandora-Gilboa. A Pirate fourth quarter comeback fell short as the Rockets left with sole possession of the league crown. The game was fairly even after one with the Rockets having a one basket advantage 11-9. The Rockets then went on a 10 point run to open up a 21-9 advantage. The Pirates outscored the Rockets by 5 the rest of the half for a Rockets 26, Pirates 18 score at the break.
The Rockets started the third quarter on a 6 point run to open up a 14 point lead 32-18. The Pirates battled back by scoring 12 of the last 14 points of the quarter. The Pirates took the third quarter by a 12-8 margin to be down 34-30 after 3. The Pirates scored first in the fourth to make it a 2 point game at 34-32. The Rockets would allow the game to get within 2 again at 37-35 but would then score the next 6 points to open up an 8 point lead and put the game away at 43-35. The Rockets scored 6 of the final 11 points to finish with a 49-40 win.
Wade Stauffer led the Pirates with 11 points while Jacob Williams put in 10. Caleb Olds scored 8, Trevor Williamson 4, Tyler Brecht 3, Chris Potts and Alex Hale 2 each. Wade Stauffer made a pair of 3 point shots while Tyler Brecht made 1.
Continental is now 13-8 (4-3 PCL) and finished third in the PCL. Continental hosts Delphos St Johns on Friday for Senior night. Pandora Gilboa is now 15-6 (6-1 PCL).
