
Tuesday night had Continental High Girls Varsity at the home of the first school with both the boys and girls State Basketball Championship in the same year 1994, Upper Scioto Valley. The Rams took control of the game when they put in 22 in the first half to the Pirates 10. The Rams took the first quarter 10-5 with a pair of baskets, a 3 pointers and 3 free throws. The Pirates got a basket from Ashlyn Dudgeon and Olivia Crossgrove and a free throw form Makenzie Shock. After the Rams put in the first basket of the second quarter the Pirates rallied back with a 3 point play from Makenzie Shock and a basket by Ella Siefer to make it a 4 point game 14-10 Rams. The Rams would score the last 8 points of the half to take a 22-10 lead into the locker room.
The Pirates offense too off in the third quarter thanks to 3 baskets by Makenzie Shock, a 3 from Ava Sheeter, and a 3 point play by Morgan Shock to put them at 12 for the quarter. The Rams put in 20 and made it a 20 point game 42-22 after 3. Makenzie Shock put on a scoring show in the fourth as she made 4 baskets and a 3 for 11 while Crossgrove put in 3 free throws, Sheeter a basket and Becca Stark a free throw. The Pirates outscored the Rams 17-10 in the fourth. Rams 52-29 winner.
The Pirates were led by Makenzie Shock with 21 points, Ava Sheeter and Morgan Shock both added 5 points. Olivia Logan and Ella Siefer both scored 2. Becca Stark added 1. The Pirates made two 3 pointers, Makenzie Shock and Ava Sheeter both made 1. The Rams made 2 pointers. The Rams were 16/22 from the foul line while the Pirates were 7/18.
The Pirates fall to 0-9 and will travel to Miller City on Friday night to open up the 2024 portion of their schedule. Upper Scioto Valley improves to 3-5.
In 1994 the Rams Boys defeated Continental in the Toledo Regional finals 43-33.
