
Saturday had the Continental High baseball and softball teams travel to Ayersville for tournament style play. The Baseball team played in the Pilot Invitational and were defeated by Edon in the first game 10-5. In the second game the Pirates were defeated by North Baltimore 10-1. Host Ayersville won the Invitational with a 3-2 1o inning win in the championship game. The Pirates baseball is now 0-6 and will travel to Columbus Grove on Tuesday.
On Saturday Pirate Softball opened up the day at Ayersville by taking on Paulding. It was all Panthers at the start as they plated 8 runs in the first 3 inning to take a commanding 8-0 lead. The Pirates got on the board in the top of the fourth when Gracie Homier crossed the plate. That would be it for the Pirates scoring but Panthers would put one on the board in the fourth and 2 in the sixth for the 11-1 decision.
Gracie Homier led the Pirates batting with a pair of singles and a run scored. Raegan Clemens hit a double and a single. Kimberly Grant had a single and a stolen base. Mallorie Barnhart had a single. Gracie Homier pitched a complete game giving up 11 runs (4 earned) on 11 hits, 3 strikeouts and 1 walk. The Pirates made 6 errors in the game.
In the second game it was all Wildcats as Napoleon put 6 on the board in the first, 3 in the second, 4 in the third and 1 in the fourth while holding the Pirates scoreless. In the top of the fifth Kimberly Grant scored for the Pirates. Wildcats 14-1.
Allie Weller led the Pirates hitting with a pair of singles. Kimberly Grant had a single and scored a run. Mallorie Barnhart hit a single.
Gracie Homier pitched a complete game giving up 14 runs (9 earned) on 13 hits 5 strikeouts and 1 walk. Continental falls to 1-4 and will host Holgate on Monday.
