
DUPONT – Silas Darrell Brooks, 67, of Dupont, passed away at 7:46 a.m., Sunday, October 6, 2024 at his residence. He was born February 4, 1957, in Lima to the late Silas and Lenna (Jackson) Brooks. On August 2, 1996, he married Brenda Brooks, who survives in Dupont.
Other survivors include four children: Jeremy (Breezi Smallwood) Morrison of Lima, Jessica (Scott) Crisp of Alaska, Paul (Desi) Davis of Dupont and Travis (Melissa) Brooks of Alaska; twelve grandchildren: Elizabeth (Dyllan Caudle) Morrison, Jesse (Tiffany) Hughett, Nathen (Virgina Marcum) Hughett, Adam Morrison, Cameron (Hannah Partin) Hughett, Jimmy Eckman, Sarah Hughett, Caleb Brooks, Kylee Davis, Cayleigh Brooks, Roman Brooks and Lillian Brooks; four great-grandchildren: Bryce, Jamison, Cooper and Asher; two siblings: Linda (Chuck) Collard and Brian Brooks, both of Defiance; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
In addition to his parents, Darrell was also preceded in death by his stepmother, June Brown Brooks; former wife, Della J. Brooks; a son, Teddy (TJ) Hughett; a daughter-in-law, Liza Morrison; a granddaughter, Lindsey “Mouse” Davis; two brothers: Dwayne and Rusty Brooks; and his fur friend of 15 years, Lacy.
Darrell worked for H & M Machine Shop, Fort Jennings. He was a faithful member of Continental Missionary Baptist Church. Darrell loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Continental Missionary Baptist Church, Continental with Pastor Don Smith and Rev. Perry Mason officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday prior to the service at the church.
