The United Way of Putnam County is collecting school supplies for children who might otherwise go to school without the tools they need to succeed. The United Way will host “Stuff the Bus” on Friday, August 3 from 4 to 7PM and Saturday, August 5 from 10AM to 7PM in front of the Ottawa Walmart. The community is invited to bring donations to help stuff a school bus full of school supplies. Volunteers are needed to help with Stuff the Bus and the distribution event.
The annual “Putnam County Back-to-School Giveaway” will take place on Monday, August 13 at the Putnam County Educational Services Center. To receive free school supplies, qualifying families may acquire a referral form from their schools or from Putnam County Job and Family Services.
Groups and individuals interested in helping to provide school supplies should contact the United Way at 419-523-4505. Cash donations are welcomed and will be used toward purchasing school supplies. Checks may be made payable to United Way/Back-to-School. Mail to: PO Box 472 Ottawa.
