A fast start by the Holgate Tigers ruined the Continental High Girls Basketball home opener. The Pirates started the season with 5 games on the road but it was the Tigers who did the scoring in the first quarter. Tigers 9-1 after 1. The Tigers expanded their lead in the second quarter by 12. Tigers 26-6 at half. A hard fought third quarter had the Tigers with a 1 point advantage. Tigers 37-16 after 3. It was the Tigers night as they ended up as the 53-22 victors.
Jensen Armey led the Pirates with 7 points, while Bryn Tegenkamp put in 6. Olivia Logan scored 4 points, Cheyenne Rose 3 points, and Corinne Sprague 2 points. Armey made two 3 pointers for the Pirates while the Tigers put in 4.
Continental falls to 0-6 and will host Maumee Country Day on Monday (this game has been cancelled). The Hawks are new to the Pirates schedule. Holgate improves to 3-2.
